This is an extended Haiku called a Tanka. It is five lines long; 5-7-5-7-7.
'Drink me!', the cup cried
'Coffee tastes bad four hours colder.
You're wasting your cash
letting me freeze on your desk!',
but she just keeps typing away.

Hiaku for Autumn
Summer days shorten
and the crisp smoke-scented winds
seep through my sweater.

Cake
So this morning I attempted to use my new silicon piping bag from Lakeland. I've never attempted to decorate a cake with a piping bag so my efforts were very elementary but the cake tastes alright and I guess that's all that really matters. The 'R' is for Rob, who will eat most of the cake.
The cake was just a regular sponge, but the recipe I used was easy and it turned out amazing. I used a very rich vanilla buttercream frosting with a raspberry filling. It's definitely ediable.
The piping was surprisingly easy and the bag was a snap to clean up, in fact it and the 5 tips that came with it are all dishwasher safe! Hopefully I'll get better at it, I have to keep practicing and stop eating all the icing, though.
Recipe from Family Circle: Making Beautiful Cakes, available here. Sponge cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.

Homegrown
We are overrun with tomatoes. I think we must have collected at least 10lbs from 6 tiny seedlings and they are still coming. They look and taste fantastic. I'm sure we'll be able to happily survive on endless tomato and mozzarella salads and fresh pasta sauce!

I just discovered Pinterest today, and completely love it. It's the web version of cutting pictures out of magazines and pinning them up on a bulletin board (just like in middle school). Like Twitter it also allows you to follow people and it links to your Facebook so I was instantly 'following' all my Facebook friends with Pinterest accounts. I highly recommend it and be sure to follow me! I'm planning on using this to politely hint at fantastic Christmas gifts <wink, wink>!

Amazing... must get one!
Rob does most of the cooking around the house but occasionally I pitch in and I might (very cautious MIGHT) just pitch in more if I got myself this amazing garlic peeler from Joseph Joseph!
I love garlic but can't stand how my hands smell like it for days after I cook with it, this looks like the perfect solution. It seems like the woman in the video is also pretty pleased about that.

The Move
Moving is taking over our lives right now. We are obsessed with rightmove.co.uk. I've always liked the site because you can see into peoples' homes and feel like a snoop but when the idea of a move is looming around the corner then it's just impossible for me to stop looking at all the potential new homes. To make matters worse, all week Rob has been stuck at home with a sprained ankle... it's the size of a football! (He's been trapped in the house and cannot walk so here's hoping he recuperates soon.) But all the time at home means he can track the site like a hawk. We're both torturing ourselves looking at properties that we know won't be available when the place we're in now sells. Here's hoping there is something spectacular left when we know we can leave.
Looking at properties is also very premature because we're still very unsure on where to move next... the whole of south-east and south-west London are open. We've narrowed it down to Twickenham, Raynes Park, Richmond, Kingston, Balham, and Streatham Hill or, if possible, we'll try and stick around our current area, Elephant and Castle.
Leaving the centre of London has me nervous... not sure if I'll be able to handle the 'burbs or if I'll be able to feel youthful out of the centre of town, but I'm not sure I ever felt youthful in the centre of town? I'm guess the location will be determined on the quality of the property, as long as we're comfortable... anywhere can be home. Right?
The move has also meant that we need to be extra clean, which is tough when your working full-time and become as a lazy as possible on the weekends. We made a very good start on clearing up last weekend and there is something very thearaputic about having a clean home but getting motivated to do the work in the first place was almost impossible. It will be amazing if we can manage to keep it this way.
As a chronic stresshead I thought that the combination of anticipation, indecision, and pressure to be clean would have stressed me to no end but I actually feel pretty calm and excited about the whole thing. We're not in a hurry and I'm completely confident that things will work out lovely. Fingers crossed in six months time I'm not cursing this post and the move...

The Beginning
This is yet another attempt to blog my existence... not sure why I try but I keep thinking that this will be the one that sticks. Here's hoping...
Now to decide... should my blog have a theme? Obviously, from the title, it will be about the Scott-Clark Family, which right now consists of me and my husband Rob but should it have even more focus?
No...
If I try and pin myself down with a theme I'll never do it. So here's to the beginning...
