Moving is taking over our lives right now. We are obsessed with rightmove.co.uk. I've always liked the site because you can see into peoples' homes and feel like a snoop but when the idea of a move is looming around the corner then it's just impossible for me to stop looking at all the potential new homes. To make matters worse, all week Rob has been stuck at home with a sprained ankle... it's the size of a football! (He's been trapped in the house and cannot walk so here's hoping he recuperates soon.) But all the time at home means he can track the site like a hawk. We're both torturing ourselves looking at properties that we know won't be available when the place we're in now sells. Here's hoping there is something spectacular left when we know we can leave.
Looking at properties is also very premature because we're still very unsure on where to move next... the whole of south-east and south-west London are open. We've narrowed it down to Twickenham, Raynes Park, Richmond, Kingston, Balham, and Streatham Hill or, if possible, we'll try and stick around our current area, Elephant and Castle.
Leaving the centre of London has me nervous... not sure if I'll be able to handle the 'burbs or if I'll be able to feel youthful out of the centre of town, but I'm not sure I ever felt youthful in the centre of town? I'm guess the location will be determined on the quality of the property, as long as we're comfortable... anywhere can be home. Right?
The move has also meant that we need to be extra clean, which is tough when your working full-time and become as a lazy as possible on the weekends. We made a very good start on clearing up last weekend and there is something very thearaputic about having a clean home but getting motivated to do the work in the first place was almost impossible. It will be amazing if we can manage to keep it this way.
As a chronic stresshead I thought that the combination of anticipation, indecision, and pressure to be clean would have stressed me to no end but I actually feel pretty calm and excited about the whole thing. We're not in a hurry and I'm completely confident that things will work out lovely. Fingers crossed in six months time I'm not cursing this post and the move...
